Rita Marchisio

Rita Marchisio (born February 13, 1950 in Cuneo ) is a former Italian long-distance runner .

In 1984 she became the national champion in the 10,000 meter run with the national record of 33: 29.68 minutes.

However, she had her greatest successes in road running . In 1982 she won the premiere of the Osaka Women's Marathon , setting an Italian record with 2:32:55 h. In the marathon of the European Athletics Championships in Athens she was tenth, and the following year she was in the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 eleventh and in the Chicago marathon ninth. In 1983 and 1984 she won the national title in the half marathon .

In 1985 she was third in Osaka, sixth in the IAAF World Cup marathon and ninth in the European Cup marathon. In 1986 she was third again in Osaka, thirteenth at the European Athletics Championships in Stuttgart and eighth at the New York City Marathon .

1987 followed a fifth place in Osaka a twelfth in the World Cup marathon and the win of the Italian championship title as the overall winner of the Venice marathon (with a time of 2:29:36 h on a probably too short distance). The following year she was tenth in Osaka and closed her career as a winner at the premiere of the Maratona d'Italia (2:31:08 h on a presumably 41.9 km long route).

In 1982 she finished 25th at the World Cross Country Championships and won the silver medal with the Italian team.

Rita Marchisio is 1.70 meters tall and weighs 53 kg. She started for GS Roata Chiusani and was trained by Beppe Viale as well as Oscar Barletta (until 1984) and Gianpaolo Lenzi (from 1985).
