The River Coln is a small river in Gloucestershire ( England ). Its source is at Brockhampton , east of Cheltenham , from there it flows in a south-easterly direction to the Thames south-west of Lechlade , where it joins and joins the Thames-Severn Canal ( Thames and Severn Canal ) at the Round House footbridge flows into the Thames.
In its course it crosses the Cotswolds Hills , past Chedworth , Withington , Bibury , Coln St. Aldwyns and Fairford . Between Fairford and Lechlade there are large, now abandoned gravel pits by the river. Here was Cotswold Water Park , the lakes are fed by the River Coln.
The river is very rich in fish, especially the stocks of brown trout and grayling ensure that sport fishing is active on its banks.
