The Rivière au Saumon ( French for " salmon river") is a left tributary of the Rivière Saint-François in the regional county town of Le Haut-Saint-François ( Estrie administrative region ) in the south of the Canadian province of Québec .

The Rivière au Saumon has its origin in the small lake Lac Danger on the southern flank of the Montagne de Marbre near the border between Québec (Canada) and Maine (USA). The river flows around Mont Mégantic initially in a westerly direction and later in a northerly direction. It passes through the parishes of La Patrie , Scotstown and Gould . The river reaches the upper reaches of the Rivière Saint-François south of the small town Weedon . The Rivière au Saumon has a length of about 80 km. Its catchment area covers approximately 850 km². The mean discharge at the gauge near Gould is 20 m³ / s.

The Covered Bridge Pont McVetty-McKenzie , built in 1893, spans the Rivière au Saumon near Gould .
