Rożnowice (until 1949 Rozembark ; German: Rosenberg ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality of Biecz in the powiat Gorlicki of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland .

history

The place was founded by German settlers in the middle of the 14th century on the site of the older Slavic village of Niemściło . It was mentioned in 1354 as Rosumberk , 1416 as Rosenbark and 1433 as Rozembark . The Roman Catholic parish was founded in 1389. The current wooden church was built in 1756.

During the first partition of Poland , Rożnowice became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire in 1772 (from 1804).

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Rożnowice became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Rożnowice was part of the Krosno Voivodeship .
