Robert Edward Mulvee (born February 15, 1930 in Boston - † December 28, 2018 ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Providence , Rhode Island , USA .

Life

Robert Edward Mulvee was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Manchester on June 30, 1957 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on February 15, 1977 auxiliary bishop in Manchester and titular bishop of Summa . The Bishop of Manchester, Odore Joseph Gendron , ordained him episcopal on April 14 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Ernest John Primeau , Bishop Emeritus of Manchester, and John Francis Hackett , Auxiliary Bishop of Hartford .

John Paul II named him Bishop of Wilmington on February 19, 1985 . He was named Coadjutor Bishop of Providence on February 9, 1995 and inducted into office on March 27 of the same year. After the resignation of Louis Edward Gelineau , he succeeded him on June 11, 1997 as Bishop of Providence.

On March 28, 2005, John Paul II accepted his resignation due to reasons of age.
