Robert Farken (born September 20, 1997 in Leipzig ) is a German athlete who specializes in long sprints and medium-distance runs . He also runs long seasons .
career path
Farken is a high school graduate at the Sports High School in Leipzig .
Athletic career
Robert Farken initially played football. As a track and field athlete, he was slowed down by a torn ligament or a capsule.
In 2016 Farken was runner-up over 800 meters at the German youth indoor championships as well as with the 3 x 1000 meter relay in the U20 class at the German championships . In the same year he was the fastest U20 runner in Europe with a time of 1: 46.65 minutes. Farken ran this best time at the evening sports festival in Pfungstadt , but after the nomination period for participation in the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz .
In 2017 Farken was German indoor champion over 800 meters in his first DM start in the men's class in Leipzig . At the evening sports festival in Erfurt on January 27th, he qualified for the indoor European championships in Belgrade with a personal best of 1: 47.65 minutes .
Farken was part of the B-team of the German Athletics Association (DLV) . After the competitive sports reform, he was accepted into the perspective squad (PK) for the 2017/2018 season.
Robert Farken starts for the SC DHfK Leipzig / LAZ Leipzig .
Honors
