At Lake Constance, his team won the German championship four times in a row and the DVV Cup three times . In 2007, Friedrichshafen also triumphed in the Champions League with Hupka . Because of health problems with his knee, Hupka had to end his engagement with VfB, whereupon he returned to his home country to Matador Púchov. In 2010 he returned to the Bundesliga and won the DVV Cup again in his first season with Generali Haching . In 2012 he was German runner-up with the Hachingen team and in 2013 again DVV cup winner. Then Hupka moved to the Czech Republic to Jihostroj České Budějovice .

As a junior national player, Hupka took part in the 1999 World Cup in Saudi Arabia and in 2001 in Poland . In 2003 he retired with the senior national team at the European Championships in Germany as the bottom of the group in the preliminary round. In 2011, Slovakia won the Europa League with Hupka . The team was then able to win their preliminary group at the European Championships in Austria and the Czech Republic before they were eliminated in the quarter-finals against defending champions Poland.
