Robert Kienböck

Robert Kienböck (born January 11, 1871 in Vienna ; † September 7, 1953 there ) was an Austrian radiologist.

Life

Kienböck in 1895 at the University of Vienna to Dr. med. PhD and later assistant to Leopold Schrötter von Kristelli . In 1904 he became head of the radiological department of the Vienna General Hospital . On October 1, 1925, he was appointed associate professor . With Guido Holzknecht he founded the Vienna X-ray Society . He wrote pioneering work on X-ray diagnostics and therapy and established Austria's first X-ray department. In particular, Kienböck developed a process for the optimal dosage of the X-ray intensity (Kienböck's quantimeter). The lunate malacia of the wrist is named after him.
