Robert Arthur "Rob" Knox (born August 21, 1989 , † May 24, 2008 in Sidcup , London ) was a British actor .

Career

Knox was already active as an actor at the age of 11. He got his first small role in an episode of " The Bill ". He then appeared on the Channel 4 reality show "Trust Me I'm a Teenager".

His first feature film was the 2004 version of King Arthur starring Clive Owen and Til Schweiger . In 2007 he played Josh in the BBC series "After you've gone" in the episodes Silence of the Clams and And So This Is Christmas .

In the film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, based on the book of the same name by Joanne K. Rowling , he embodies Marcus Belby , a student from the Ravenclaw house , one of the four houses of the Hogwarts Magic School . Shortly before the time of his death, the filming of this film had been completed. Knox had already signed the contract for the seventh part of the Harry Potter series, where he would play Marcus Belby again .

Death and afterlife

Robert Knox was stabbed to death on May 24, 2008 in front of the "Metro Bar" in Sidcup , a district of Greater London , when he wanted to protect his younger brother from an attacker. Several other young people were injured in the stabbing . The already convicted 22-year-old perpetrator was overpowered and arrested on site. He was in custody taken and remained imprisoned until his trial in February of 2009. On March 4, 2009, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder.

After his death, it was announced that Robert Knox was to be honored by the North Kent Police for bravery for helping to catch the perpetrator on May 24, 2007 (exactly one year before he was murdered) after an attack in a shopping mall. The award was given posthumously and received by his parents.

In November 2008, the film Keep yourself alive was dedicated to Knox . Knox had already agreed to take part in this film, which is about dealing with death, but was murdered before shooting began.

In early 2009 it was announced that the premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be dedicated to the memory of Robert Knox. In his honor and to draw attention to the tragic circumstances of his death, the actors and members of the film crew wore white bracelets at the premiere. Clive Owen, with whom Robert Knox played in King Arthur , also premiered.

Robert's parents set up a charitable foundation , the Rob Knox Foundation , which works to prevent violence and protect victims , as well as promoting young acting talent.
