Robert Maaskant (born January 10, 1969 in Schiedam ) is a Dutch football coach and former professional footballer.
Career
As a player
Robert Maaskant started his career with the Go Ahead Eagles in the 1989/90 season . He then moved to RBC Roosendaal for a year , after which he accepted the offer of the Scottish first division club FC Motherwell . After a one-year stint he returned to Holland, where he played for FC Zwolle and most recently in 1995/96 for Excelsior Rotterdam .
As a trainer
Robert Maaskant began his coaching career in 1996 as an assistant coach at FC Zwolle. He was employed there for a total of three years until 1999. He then went to RBC Roosendaal for three years, for the first time as head coach. This was followed by a one-year engagement with his former club, Go Ahead Eagles, before coaching Willem II Tilburg in 2004/2005 . In the 2006/2007 season he was active as a coach at RBC Roosendaal for the second time before he became head coach of the second division club MVV Maastricht in 2007/2008 . From summer 2008 to August 2010 Robert Maaskant coached the first division club NAC Breda . On August 21, 2010 he was coach of the Polish first division club Wisła Krakow and with the Krakow in his first season Polish champions. After a few failures, Maaskant was dismissed in Krakow in November 2011 and, after a brief interim engagement in the USA, accepted an offer from FC Groningen in May 2012 . After his contract was not renewed in 2013, Maaskant signed in June 2013 as a coach with the Belarusian club FK Dinamo Minsk .
