Robert Nef

Robert Nef (* 1942 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss publicist and author .

life and career

Nef studied law in Zurich and Vienna. Between 1961 and 1991 he was a research assistant at the Chair of Law at the ETH Zurich . Between 1979 and 2007 he headed the  Liberal Institute , which he later presided over. He is currently (2018) a member of the Institute's Board of Trustees. From 1994 to 2008 he was co-editor of the Swiss monthly magazine . He is a member of the Mont Pèlerin Society and the Friedrich August von Hayek Society, President of the Society and Church where? , Vice-President of the Freedom and Responsibility Foundation and was President of the Foundation for Western Ethics and Culture until 2016 . In 2008 he was awarded the Friedrich A. von Hayek Medal and in 2016 the Roland Baader Award.

Nef emphasizes positions that are economically liberal and critical of the state.

He works as an author and member of the editorial board for the magazine peculiarly free .

Nef is one of the founders of the reform-critical Swiss Orthographic Conference .

For Nef's 70th birthday, a commemorative publication was published under the title Fighters for Freedom . a. with contributions by Charles B. Blankart , Christoph Blocher , Peter Forstmoser , Heidi Hanselmann , Konrad Hummler , Václav Klaus , Gerhard Schwarz , Tito Tettamanti and Erich Weede .
