Robert Prantner

Robert Prantner (born June 26, 1931 in Vienna ; † December 10, 2010 in Hinterbrühl ) was an Austrian theologian, social ethicist and publicist.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1949, Prantner studied philosophy and Catholic theology as well as political science. With a thesis on international law and international relations, he was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. PhD in political science and also in theology . He was an honorary doctor of social sciences.

From 1955 he was the personal research assistant of Julius Raab , Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria from 1953 to 1961, and later to 1993 of the President of the National Council, Alfred Maleta .

From 1974 to 1982, Prantner was a lecturer in ethics and social studies at the Philosophical-Theological Religious College of the Augustinian Canons in Klosterneuburg Abbey . In 1982 he was appointed to the professorship for ethics and social studies at the Philosophical-Theological College of the Cistercians in Heiligenkreuz Abbey . In the 1990s he was a member of the Guardian Angel Brotherhood at the Engelwerk .

In 1998 he retired . In the same year, he sparked controversy with the spread of anti-Semitic ritual murder legends ; no criminal proceedings were initiated. In 2002 he spread conspiracy theories on September 11, 2001 in the newspaper Zur Zeit , blaming the United States and the Mossad for the terrorist attacks .

He was Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of the Sovereign Order of Malta . Since 1953 he was a member of the Catholic student association K.Ö.HV Amelungia Vienna in the ÖCV .

The journalist Thomas Prantner is his son.
