biography
Robert de Baudricourt is the son of Liébaud de Baudricourt, Chevalier and Chamberlain of the King, grandson of Jean de Baudricourt, Squire, and Marguerite d'Aulnay, Dame de Blaise, granddaughter of Philippe d'Aunay , who in the wake of the scandal surrounding the Tour de Nesle was executed as a lover of Margaret of Burgundy in 1314.
In 1415 he was appointed captain of Vaucouleurs , a castellany of the Duchy of Bar , which also included the village of Domrémy . In addition, he was advisor and chamberlain to Duke René I.
Joan of Arc sought out Robert de Baudricourt in Vaucouleurs so that he could give her an escort to travel to Chinon to see King Charles VII . After rejecting the request in May 1428 or January 1429, he granted it in February 1429. He is said to have accompanied his decision with the words: "Va ... va et advienne que pourra".
Robert de Baudricourt took part in the Battle of Bulgnéville on July 2, 1431 , during which he fled the battlefield in order not to be captured by the enemy.
