Robert von der Goltz (politician)

Robert von der Goltz (born December 16, 1811 in Goldberg , Lower Silesia , † December 11, 1855 in Cologne ) was a German judge , officer and member of the Prussian Kingdom .

Life

Goltz was the son of the manor owner Carl Christian von der Goltz . Around 1832 he studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1832 he became a member of the Old Marcomannia Bonn fraternity . After that he was an officer in the Prussian Army until 1843 . From 1843 to 1852 he was an assessor at the Brieg Regional Court . From 1843 to 1849 he was also Mayor of Brieg .

In May 1849 Goltz was a member and secretary of the general assembly of the Central March Association in Frankfurt am Main . Because of this activity, his officer's license was revoked and his re-election as mayor in Brzeg was not recognized. In the Frankfurt National Assembly he represented the constituency of Silesia 17 (Brieg) and was a member there from May 18, 1848 to May 30, 1849. During this time he was secretary of the National Assembly (including May 17, 1848). He was a member of the two committees on petitions and church and school affairs. He voted for the election of Friedrich Wilhelm IV. As German Emperor.

From 1852 he lived in Cologne.
