De Zolt Ponte had his first international success at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1989 in Vang . There he won the bronze medal over 30 km. He made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in December 1991 in Silver Star , which he finished classically in 61st place over 10 km. He ran his first race in the Continental Cup in December 1992 in Tauplitz and finished 27th over 15 km classic. In the same month he took his first victory in the Continental Cup in Toblach over 30 km freestyle and his first World Cup points in Val di Fiemme with tenth place over 30 km freestyle. This was also his best individual placement in the World Cup. In 1997 he won the Gsieser-Tal-Lauf over 42 km freestyle. In December 1998 she won the Continental Cup in Brusson over 10 km freestyle and took second place in the relay at the World Cup in Santa Caterina . He completed his 30th and last individual World Cup race in December 2003 in Toblach, which he finished in 16th place in the 30 km mass start race. From the 1999/2000 season until his last active season 2010/11, he mainly started in the Cross-Country Marathon Cup . She won the 2001/02 season at the Transjurassienne and took third place at the Engadin Skimarathon . He thus achieved second place in the overall ranking. In the 2003/04 season he came in second at American Birkebeiner and first at La Sgambeda . The following season he was fourth in the Engadin Skimarathon and second in La Sgambeda. After finishing sixth at La Sgambeda at the beginning of the 2005/06 season, he triumphed at the Transjurassienne and came second at the American Birkebeiner and third at the Engadin Skimarathon. He thus achieved third place in the overall ranking.
