Robert Brian "Robin" Cook (born May 4, 1940 in New York City ) is an American doctor and author .

Life

Cook graduated from Wesleyan University and attended Columbia University Medical School . He served his internship at Harvard University . After his first novel hit the international bestseller lists, he took a leave of absence from his duties at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary . In his books he deals with topics of medicine and public health . Some of his books such as Koma and The Curse of the Sphinx were made into films. The TV adaptations of some of his novels for NBC-TV and CBS-TV have not yet been shown in Germany.

He is not identical to the British author Robin Cook (1931-1994), who published under the pseudonym Derek Raymond Hardboiled thrillers.

Robin Cook now lives as a freelance writer with his wife Barbara in Florida .
