Rocco Thiede

Rocco Thiede (* 1963 ) is a German author, publicist, photographer and journalist. Thiede lives with his wife and their six children on the outskirts of Berlin.

Life

Thiede is a trained art historian. In 1991 he was a guest at the Deutsche Akademie Villa Massimo in Rome, a scholarship from the Fondatione Lemmermann Rom in 1993, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and other research institutions such as the University of Leipzig .

In the early 1990s he devoted himself to 19th century German painting. His research on the trip to Italy of the romantic painter Carl Blechen stimulated exhibition projects in Berlin and Cottbus and repeatedly took him to Rome, Florence and Naples. In Italy he worked in a journalist's office as a correspondent and reporter for the news agency dpa , Vatican Radio , L'Osservatore Romano , ARD radio stations, Tagesspiegel, the Braunschweiger Zeitung, and the Leipziger Volkszeitung.

After an internship at the Axel Springer School of Journalism from 1994 to 1996 in Hamburg and Berlin, he worked for several years as an editor for the national daily newspaper Die Welt . He then worked in the news department for the television broadcaster Sat.1 until 2001, was then press spokesman for Bertelsmann AG and until 2008 for four years in the management team of the Bertelsmann Foundation in Gütersloh in the family department.

Since 2009 Thiede has had his own media office in which he a. a. works as a journalist for public radio and writes and photographs for the news agency Katholische Nachrichten-Agentur KNA or Die Tagespost .

Thiede is editor and author of non-fiction books. Die Impossible (2006) and Powerpaare (2008) are volumes of reports with a focus on the compatibility of family and work. As publisher and author, everything followed at the beginning in 2012 - The Truth About Patchwork together with Elisabeth Niejahr and 2013 Chance for Everyone on the subject of anonymous application. Mama pays also appeared in 2013 , edited by Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (former Prime Minister of Saarland) and Kristina Schröder (former Federal Minister for Family Affairs). In 2014, Thiede published the anthology Kinderglück about the life of large families in Germany in the publishing house of the Federal Agency for Political Education . Asche - From the life of a firefighter (2014) documents the life story of Andreas Eschke from Berlin. In 2015, Ways to Compatible Care and Work in Companies - Reports from Brandenburg with texts and photos by Rocco Thiede were published. In October 2015 published together with Susanne van Volxem Germany - First information for refugees in German and Arabic. The Generationsbrücke - How the coexistence of old and young succeeds (2016 Herder Verlag) traces the history of one of the most successful social enterprises. In 2018 the monks are coming: Neuzelle - repopulation of a monastery .

In October 2019, "We are here for you - cancer and family - 11 reports" came onto the market as a bound edition from Herder Verlag. Rocco Thiede published the book together with the German Cancer Aid Foundation . Along with other authors (including ZEIT, FAZ, SZ, WELT. ZDF, DLF, BILD), he is a contributor himself and created a large number of the photographs for this anthology.
