The Rochers de Naye is a mountain in the Vaudois Pre-Alps above Veytaux and Villeneuve , it is considered the local mountain of Montreux . The rock massif, whose highest point is at 2042 m above sea level. M. is made of limestone .
From Montreux there is a cog railway up the mountain operated by Transports Montreux – Vevey – Riviera . At the mountain station there is a hotel and a restaurant as well as an enclosure for observing marmots . From the summit, which can be reached all year round, you have a view of Lake Geneva as well as the Jura mountain ranges , the Bernese, Freiburg , the Valais and Savoy Alps . In an easterly direction, a mountain path leads to the Alpinum La Rambertia and the Grotte de Naye cave .
The Alpinum La Rambertia is open from mid-June to the end of September. It has a cultivated area of approx. 3000 m² and is located at an altitude of 1980 m. The botanical garden was founded by Henry Correvon in 1869 and is run by an association. There is a small Buddhist stupa on the way to the mountain station .
There is a via ferrata for experienced mountaineers on the northern flank of the mountain . It is classified as K5 (“very difficult”) on a difficulty scale for via ferratas.
