Sharod Lamor "Roddy" White (born November 2, 1981 in Charleston , South Carolina , United States ) is a former American football player on the position of wide receiver . He played for the Atlanta Falcons throughout his career .
High school
White attended high school in Charleston, South Carolina. In addition to American football, he also played baseball , soccer and wrestling here .
college
With the college football team at the University of Alabama at Birmingham , he managed 163 trapped passes for 1,452 yards between 2001 and 2004 . He also got 26 touchdowns .
NFL
Roddy White was selected in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft as the 27th player by the Atlanta Falcons . On the fourth day of the 2005 NFL season, he was set as the third wide receiver . On Matchday 15 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , he scored 107 yards from trapped balls in a game that was the second best value this season by a rookie . In 2008, he was the fourth best pass taker by yards in the NFL. He was therefore nominated for the Pro Bowl . On October 11th, he set a record for the Atlanta Falcons franchise . He scored 210 yards in a game against the San Francisco 49ers . That season he also set his career record of 11 touchdowns in one season. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 he was nominated again for the Pro Bowl. On November 16, 2014, it reached the 10,000 yard mark. On March 2, 2016, White was released from the Falcons.
In June 2019, the Atlanta Falcons announced the addition of wide receiver Roddy White to the Falcons Ring of Honor . White spent all eleven seasons in the NFL with the Falcons, setting franchise records for trapped passes (808), yards (10,863) and touchdowns (63). The four-time pro bowler and all-pro was accepted on December 8, 2019 during the halftime break of the game against the Carolina Panthers.
