Roderich Erwin von Kienitz

Roderich Erwin von Kienitz (born November 5, 1906 in Duisburg , † September 22, 1948 ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian , honorary professor for German state church law and ecclesiastical administrative practice and cathedral chapter.

Life

Born as the son of Walter von Kienitz and Anna Sophie von Kienitz (née Hennenbusch), he converted from the Protestant to the Roman Catholic denomination in 1924. He studied law in Freiburg and Paris, and Catholic theology at the Ludwig Maximilians University . In 1930 he received his doctorate in theology in Munich , and in 1931 in Freiburg in law. On June 29, 1931, he was ordained a priest in Freising by Cardinal Faulhaber . In 1933 he was appointed cathedral vicar . He completed his habilitation in canon law at the theological faculty of the University of Munich.

The National Socialist authorities withdrew his passport in 1939, and in 1940 he was banned from writing. In 1943 he was accepted as a cathedral chapter in the Munich Metropolitan Chapter . From 1946 to 1948 he was honorary professor for German state church law and ecclesiastical administrative practice at the University of Munich.
