Roger Karlsson

Roger Karlsson (* 1945 ) is a former Swedish football player . The defender won the Swedish national cup with Landskrona BoIS .

Career

Karlsson started playing football at Råå IF . After the local rival Helsingborgs IF had tried several times for the service of the defender, he moved to the second division Landskrona BoIS in early 1968. With the team he reached the relay victory in Division 2 Södra Götaland in his first year , but failed in the promotion round without a win as bottom of the table behind Jönköpings Södra IF , IK Sirius and Sandvikens IF . Two years later, the club repeated the relay win and rose after one win and two draws as group first before IFK Luleå , Sandvikens IF and Skövde AIK in the Allsvenskan .

In the 1971 season Karlsson established himself with the club in midfield of the league. At the side of Torbjörn Lindström , Claes Cronqvist , Dan Brzokoupil and Sonny Johansson , he and Landskrona BoIS reached the cup final against IFK Norrköping in the summer of the following year . With a 3-2 win after extra time with goals from Cronqvist and two-time goalscorers Lindström, the club won the first title. In the 1975 season he also contributed to the best result in the club's history in the league when he reached fourth place in the table with the club.

After the end of the first division season in 1975, Karlsson returned to his hometown club Råå IF. With the second division he played against relegation, who had to be accepted in 1977 as third from bottom of the table. As a season winner of Division 3 Skåne , he failed twice in the episode with the club on the rise again, before he ended his active career in 1980.

Later Karlsson worked as a youth coach at Högaborgs BK .
