Raw materials economy
Raw materials management is the umbrella term for a number of large economic sectors . It mainly includes:
- the search and prospecting of natural raw materials , in particular
- mineral and bulk raw materials
- Hydrocarbons
- and partly also renewable raw materials
- the extraction and processing of these raw materials, in particular
- the mining and installation associated landfills
- the coal , oil and gas industries
- the waste and recycling industry
- the use of biogas , landfill gas and digester gas
- the management of secondary raw materials
- the use of secondary fuels .
as well as parts of neighboring industries, among others
- the forest and timber industry ; also recycling of scrap and residual wood ,
- the construction industry (especially natural building materials ),
- and metallurgy .
The innovation and profitability of the industry is also one of several economic indicators today .
Federal agencies and research institutes
At the federal and state level, the following are responsible for research and data acquisition:
- in Germany the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Raw Materials
- the geological state offices of the individual federal states
- and the regionally responsible mining authorities
- in Austria the Federal Geological Institute
- and the geological departments of the state governments
- regional some mining authorities
- in Switzerland the Federal Office for Water and Geology and the cantonal mining authorities.
The following should be mentioned at research institutes in the German-speaking area:
- subject-related institutes of most technical universities and some technical colleges
- Research departments of larger companies
- Specialist departments of the umbrella organizations and economic research
