Rokitnica (German Müggenhahl ) is a village in the powiat Gdański of the Pomeranian Voivodeship in northern Poland .
Geographical location
The village is located about four kilometers east of Pruszcz Gdański (German Praust ) and eleven kilometers south of the regional metropolis Gdańsk ( Danzig ) on the so-called Danziger Höhe or Höchte (Polish Zyzyna ).
Place name
The place name Rokitnica occurs six times in Poland. The German place name Müggenhahl is borrowed from Low German and means something like 'Mückenloch'.
History
Before 1919 the village belonged to the German province of West Prussia and after the First World War it was assigned to the area of the Free City of Danzig under the Versailles Treaty . After the Second World War , the place and the entire region were placed under Polish administration. The village is now part of the Polish Powiat Gdański administrative district, which was newly established in 1999 .
