Roland Gratzer (born June 26, 1983 in Graz ) is an Austrian radio presenter , journalist , actor , artist , director and screenwriter . He lives and works in Vienna.

Roland Gratzer attended the AHS Weiz, studied Spanish in Graz and from 2002 to 2006 completed the first course in "Journalism and Corporate Communication" at the FH Joanneum Graz. He wrote his diploma thesis on "I blog". During his final year of study he moved to Vienna.

He also worked as a film critic for the newspaper Furche . In 2008 he switched to the newly founded daily newspaper Austria , where he only stayed for a few months.

Art and performance

In 2006, Gratzer became a core member of the artist group monochrom , with whom he continues to develop plays, films and performances under the direction of Johannes Grenzfurthner .

Together with his brother Georg Gratzer, he has had a festival called "komm.st" in the Anger / Weiz region in Eastern Styria since 2011. The motto is: New art should be brought to old places. People should come together wherever art and culture has always taken place, such as in inns, castles or the parish church. While his brother Georg takes care of the musical program, Roland Gratzer is responsible for the Volkstheater. Every year he writes and produces a piece for the festival together with Sebastian Wilhelm and Johannes Grenzfurthner (from monochrom), in which he also participates as an actor. Other members of the ensemble include Harald List (also from the artist collective monochrom ), the FM4 presenters Hannes Duscher and Conny Lee and the ORF editor and caricaturist Elisabeth Semrad. According to the concept of the parlor game, these pieces are then played in the inns in the region, and in the autumn in Viennese venues. The Gratzer brothers were named "East Styrians of the Year" in the "Culture" category by the Kleine Zeitung for the 2016 Komm.st Festival.

Radio and tv

In July 2008 he started at ORF radio station FM4 . There he moderated the Morning Show from January 2009, as well as other call programs together with Hannes Duscher such as "Unter Palmen", "Unter Palmkitten" and "Unter Tannen". Duscher and Gratzer founded the duo Duscher & Gratzer in 2011 . In 2014 they got one of the most important broadcast slots and inherited the then FM4 satirist duo Stermann and Grissemann with their “ Salon Helga ” and turned it into the call program “Top FM4”. They also worked on the single "Nadine", which entered the top 10 FM4 charts in summer 2015. Duscher & Gratzer released their first EP in November 2016 with the title "How should it go on". An album was announced for 2017, but will not be released until December 7, 2018 on Sissi Records.

In addition, Gratzer repeatedly works for ORF as a source of ideas and scriptwriter - for example, he worked on the political program “ Wahlfahrt ”. His own test program was then broadcast on November 20 and 27, 2018. Together with Hannes Duscher he created the 30-minute late-night comedy "Top 1", which will be shown on ORF 1 on Tuesday night at 23:00 .
