Roland Lindner (diplomat)

Roland Lindner (born June 6, 1937 in Chemnitz ) is a former German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to Pakistan .

Life

Lindner, a trained lathe operator, studied foreign policy at the German Academy for Political Science and Law from 1956 . He completed his studies with a degree in political science.

In 1963 he became an employee of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). From 1963 to 1967 he was a consultant in the second non-European department ( Southeast Asia ) at the MfAA. From 1967 to 1970 he worked as a cultural attaché at the GDR trade agency in India , from 1970 to 1972 as head of the consulate in Bombay . He then held various functions in the South and Southeast Asia department at the MfAA until 1977, including as deputy head of department. From June 1977 to April 1980 he was ambassador to Pakistan. He then worked from 1980 to 1990 as head of the South and Southeast Asia department at the MfAA. After 1990 Lindner worked as a wholesaler.

Lindner was a member of the SED .
