Roland Michael Beckmann

Roland Michael Beckmann (* 1961 in Düsseldorf ) is a German legal scholar.

Life

After graduating from the Max-Planck-Gymnasium (Düsseldorf) and doing community service in Düsseldorf, the son of the painter Babette Beckmann and the sculptor Curt Beckmann studied law at the University of Cologne (first state examination in law , judicial examination office at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court ). He was a research assistant at the Institute for Insurance Law at the University of Cologne, Director: Ulrich Hübner . After completing his doctorate in Cologne in 1990 and doing his legal clerkship in Düsseldorf in the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, he worked as a lawyer in the international law firm Hengeler Mueller in Düsseldorf. He was a research assistant at the Institute for Insurance Law at the University of Cologne. After his habilitation in 1997/1998 at the University of Cologne ( venia legendi for the legal areas of civil law, German and European commercial law, private insurance law), he represented Günther Hönns at the Saarland University . Since 2000 he has been a university professor at Saarland University for civil law, commercial and business law, labor law and private insurance law.
