Günther Hönn

Günther Hönn (born August 7, 1939 in Jena ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

Hönn studied law and passed his second state examination in 1968. The following year he did his doctorate in Frankfurt on the applicability of Article 86 of the EEC Treaty to cartels and vertical restraints of competition . From 1969 to 1973 he headed the legal department of Lever-Sunlicht ( Unilever ) in Hamburg . He then worked as a research assistant (until 1979) and university assistant at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . There he completed his habilitation in 1980 with the work Compensation of Disrupted Contract Parity .

After a substitute professorship in Berlin and a temporary professorship in Mainz, Hönn accepted a position at the Free University of Berlin in 1982 . In 1984 he became professor for civil law, commercial, economic and labor law at Saarland University . There he was Vice President for Teaching and Studies in 1991 and held the office of University President from 1992 to 2000. He then resumed his work at his chair. In 2004 he was retired, but he is still active in research and teaching.
