Roland Schwing

Roland Schwing (born April 19, 1949 in Röllbach ; † October 3, 2017 in South Tyrol ) was a German local politician . From 1986 to 2014 he was the district administrator of the Miltenberg district in Lower Franconia .

Life

After graduating from high school, Schwing studied economics at the University of Karlsruhe . After receiving his degree in industrial engineering in 1974, he joined his parents' wholesaling business as managing director.

His political work began in 1969 when he joined the Junge Union and the CSU . After already holding the district chairmanship and the deputy district chairmanship in the Junge Union, he became a member of the board of the Lower Franconia district association of his party in 1976.

In the local elections in 1984, he moved for the first time as a member of the district council of the Miltenberg district. From November 1, 1986 until his successor Jens Marco Scherf ( Alliance 90 / The Greens ) took office on May 1, 2014, he was district administrator. In May 2002 he was elected Vice President of the Bavarian District Assembly.

Schwing died on October 3, 2017 at the age of 68 while on vacation in South Tyrol. On August 4, 2018, the Main Bridge in Niedernberg-Sulzbach was renamed "Roland-Schwing Bridge".
