Roland Spiegel (born May 19, 1960 in Nuremberg ) is a German journalist , author and editor at Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR).

Life

Roland Spiegel grew up in Nuremberg and passed his matriculation examination there in 1979 . This was followed by a two-year traineeship at the Nürnberger Zeitung , where he then worked for five years as a features editor . He then studied musicology and Romance languages in Erlangen and in Caen / France. In Paris he deepened his journalism training at the 'Center de Formation et de Perfectionnement des Journalistes'. Roland Spiegel lives in Munich and is an enthusiastic guitarist.

Activity as a journalist

From 1995 to 2003 Roland Spiegel worked as culture editor for the Münchner Abendzeitung , mainly writing articles on literature, classical concerts, opera and pop music. Spiegel has been an editor at Bayerischer Rundfunk since 2004, where he is responsible for the Jazz auf Reisen series . Among other things, he designed the programs Jazztime as well as Jazz and more . He is also responsible for music recordings at Bayerischer Rundfunk, which are made at the Burghausen International Jazz Week , the JazzFest Berlin and other jazz events. In addition to his journalistic activities ( Nürnberger Zeitung (NZ), Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ), Berliner Morgenpost , Neue Musikzeitung , Jazz Podium etc.) he regularly gave courses for young journalists at the Academy of the Bavarian Press .
