Roland Werner (born November 11, 1970 in Munich ) is a German politician ( FDP ). From 2009 to 2014 he was Head of Office and State Secretary for Transport in the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport . From March to December 2013 and from May 2015 to April 2019 he was a member of the federal executive committee of the FDP, from March 2015 to November 2019 he was the FDP state treasurer in Saxony.

Life

After graduating from high school, Roland Werner completed a degree in economics with a focus on controlling as well as economic and corporate policy at the University of Augsburg and graduated with a degree in economics .

From 1997 he was the office manager of the Bundestag member Guido Westerwelle in Bonn , later Berlin . In 2000 he switched to Wolfgang Gerhardt , chairman of the FDP parliamentary group , as a personal advisor and spokesman .

Since the turn of the year 2005/2006, Roland Werner was managing director of the FDP parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament .

After Sven Morlok (FDP) was sworn in as Saxon State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport after the state elections in Saxony in 2009 , Roland Werner became one of Hartmut Mangold's two successors alongside Hartmut Fiedler .

After his dismissal as State Secretary and Head of Office in connection with the departure of the FDP from the Saxon state government after the state elections in 2014 , Werner initially worked as a freelancer. Since July 4, 2016, he has been Head of Government Affairs & Policy at the mobility service provider Uber and in the newly created position is responsible for the company's political communication in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. His successor as head of office and state secretary in the SMWA was again Hartmut Mangold .
