The son of a family of craftsmen who had fought in a partisan brigade of the Resistancea towards the end of the Second World War , came to Bolzano in 1945 and founded the Alto Adige there with friends on behalf of the Comitato di Liberazione Nazionale . As director and managing director of the daily newspaper for many years until his retirement in 1986, he was a defining figure in the South Tyrolean media landscape.

From 1971 to 1983 Boesso was a member of the Bolzano Municipal Council as a member of the Partito Repubblicano Italiano . In 1983 he was elected to the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol and thus at the same time to the South Tyrolean state parliament, in which he served as vice-president from 1984–1986 and as president from 1986–1988. In 1989 he was re-elected to the Bolzano municipal council and then to the municipal committee, where he was city councilor with the special operations department until 1995.
