Rolf Bökemeier

Rolf Bökemeier (born April 15, 1932 ; † May 8, 2007 ) was a German teacher, local researcher and non-fiction author. He studied at the Georg-August University of Göttingen and the University of Vienna . He taught chemistry and biology at the Ratsgymnasium in Stadthagen , most recently as senior teacher . In 1983 Bökemeier turned to archaeological research projects in the North German area, from 1986 to gravel pit research, the Paleolithic and the Romans in East Westphalia-Lippe . Here he mainly advocated the thesis that the Varus Battle took place in the Teutoburg Forest . His interests also included aerial archeology . He was married and had three children.
