Rolf Beiderbeck

Rolf Beiderbeck (* 1941 in Wuppertal ) is a German plant biologist and university professor.

Beiderbeck grew up in Wuppertal-Barmen and passed the school leaving examination in 1961 at the city's mathematical and scientific Carl-Duisberg-Gymnasium . He studied biology at the Universities of Cologne and Tübingen and received his doctorate in 1968 with a thesis "On the question of DNA-associated RNA in cells of the green alga Chlorella". A research assistant at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg was followed by postdoctoral fellowships at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and the University of California at Berkeley . In 1974 he completed his habilitation in botany at the University of Heidelberg. Since 1977 he has held a professorship for botany there. In 2004 he retired.

His fields of work included plants - tumors , cell cultures and plant galls .
