Rolf Bergmann (writer)

Rolf Bergmann (born September 4, 1942 in Dresden ; † May 1, 2015 there ) was a German writer .

Life

Bergmann grew up in his hometown. After graduating from high school, he fled the GDR via West Berlin to the Federal Republic in 1961 and began studying German at the University of Munich in 1962 . In 1968 Bergmann wrote his first novel Pierrot , which was rejected by Desch-Verlag in 1970. He then left Munich and moved to Frankfurt am Main , where he worked as an employee in the tourism industry. In 1977 his novel Cuba libre was published in Benidorm , in which he satirically illuminating the tourism industry. Bergmann then lived in Heidelberg and Mannheim and worked for the Werkkreis , Südfunk and Mannheimer Morgen as a critic, journalist, author and editor. In 1981 Bergmann married; this marriage, which resulted from a son, was divorced in 1990. After the divorce, Bergmann also worked as a taxi driver in Mannheim from 1990 to 1997. After his second marriage, Bergmann moved to Frankfurt am Main in 1997. Between 1988 and 2001, Bergmann was editor of the organ of the National Association of Writers of Baden-Wuerttemberg spring . Since 2006 he lived and worked in Dresden.

In his autobiographical novel Damals im Roten Kakadu , Bergmann processed his youth on the White Deer in Dresden; a continuation of this novel remained unfinished. Further short stories and short stories appeared in the anthologies Three Words and Everything Finds .

In 1984 Bergmann published the short story The Man with the Plastic Bag about the Mannheim original Ernst Kolb , followed in 2013 by the biography of Ernst Kolb - Baker Citizen Artist .

Bergmann was a member of the Association of German Writers , he was also a board member of the Hessen Literature Society and of the Dresden literary community.
