In addition to his teaching activities, Rolf Müller worked continuously as a textile designer and draftsman. It was only after graduating that he found printmaking .

"Here he mainly used the sophisticated color lithography, the hand printing of five stones ... He tried out the technique of etching with his professor colleague from China and incorporated his findings into a very special edition of Laotse's 'TAO-TE-KING'." Quote by Dr. Regina Fasold, director of the literature museum "Theodor Storm" Heilbad Heiligenstadt

Ralf-Michael Seele, director of the "ada" gallery in Meiningen wrote:

“Playful cheerfulness and cheerful play - paired with knowing seriousness - lives in the works of Rolf Müller. For him, balance is the means: the spiritual and the sensual are in balance; Edgy balances out the organic. Perception corresponds to imagination; Innovation alternates with tradition. Order also respects chaos. "

Since Rolf Müller was trained at Burg Giebichenstein, he is one of the few who have mastered the technique of picture knitting , tapestry weaving, from which works were repeatedly created. The influence of his travels to Central and Southeast Asia, most recently to the Caucasus region of Armenia and Georgia, is noticeable in his later work . His work as a textile artist also influences his graphic work. Rolf Müller prefers hand-made paper from Vietnam, which, thanks to the organic fibers, gives the ink drawing space and depth in a special way.

In addition to his artistic work, Rolf Müller also organizes exhibitions. a. in the Hallesches Kunstverein and the Association of Hallescher Künstler.
