history
In 1991 the art association "Talstrasse" was founded in Halle (Saale). In 1994 he found a permanent home in a late classicist villa on Talstrasse in the Kröllwitz district , directly on the Saale opposite Giebichenstein Castle . A rock garden that belongs to the house was designed in the late 19th century. A modern extension was opened in 2014. Since then, the exhibition site has been operating as the “Talstrasse” art gallery. In 2016 the association celebrated its 25th anniversary.
profile
The art association "Talstrasse" promotes contemporary art through changing exhibitions, artist talks, lectures, readings, art trips and art education for children.
Quote from the art association about its program:
“The programmatic arc of tension between the past and the present essentially characterizes the work of the Kunstverein, whereby it attaches importance to the presentation of contemporary art in its diversity and various tendencies.
Regional references are just as important as the presentation of national and international art developments. The art association repeatedly presents works by artist personalities whose biography shows points of contact with the Halle region: who lived or worked here or who had a special relationship with this space. The association regularly searches for clues. "
In order to fulfill this program, the art association works with many other gallery owners, art historians, museums, art schools and other art associations. Thematic expositions are of particular importance in the exhibition work, and special genres of the visual arts such as photography , image knitting , architecture , glass or sculpture are shown. Through the cooperation with art colleges, young artists are included in the program.
The journalistic work of the association is closely connected to the exhibition. It is his concern to publish catalogs with authors for as many exhibitions as possible in order to shed light on specific topics. In addition to its publications on personal and group exhibitions, the Kunstverein has also published a brochure on the art of the region since 1997. Art in Central Germany provides quarterly information on exhibitions and events from galleries, museums and art associations in the federal states of Saxony , Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia .
The association offers special thematic tours of the exhibitions and also contributes to the mediation of contemporary art with its art trips, which so far have led to China , France , Spain and Russia .
