Wilfried Fitzenreiter
Wilfried Fitzenreiter (born September 17, 1932 in Salza (Harz) , † April 12, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German sculptor and medalist .
Life
After graduating from high school, Fitzenreiter completed an apprenticeship as a stonemason in Halle from 1951 to 1952 . From 1952 to 1958 he studied sculpture at the Institute for Artistic Work Design in Halle under Gustav Weidanz and Gerhard Lichtenfeld . Then he was a master student at the German Academy of the Arts in Berlin with Heinrich Drake until 1961 . Since then he has worked freelance in Berlin in Prenzlauer Berg . At times he held a teaching position at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art . At the Xth Art Exhibition , his bronze figure Striding from 1986 could be seen. Wilfried Fitzenreiter was a member of FIDEM, the German Society for Medal Art and belonged to the Berlin Medalists.

- 17 commemorative coins based on designs by Wilfried Fitzenreiter were made in the GDR . The models were created in collaboration with the graphic artists Axel Bertram (14) and Heinz Rodewald (3).
