Rolf Schleussner
Rolf Schleußner (born August 18, 1936 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper. In 1956 and 1957 he played for SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .
Athletic career
In GDR football, a transition round was held in autumn 1955 in order to switch from the summer-spring season to the calendar year system. The 19-year-old Rolf Schleussner was the second goalkeeper behind the regular goalkeeper Gerhard Rößchen at the company sports association (BSG) Motor Dessau , whose soccer team played in the second-rate first GDR league . In the 13 games of the transition round Schleussner was only used in one encounter. In the 1956 season, the situation did not change for Schleussner, because in the first half of the season he only played two league games.
At the beginning of the second half of the season Schleussner moved to the upper division SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt, who needed a new substitute goalkeeper in addition to Erich Haake . In three league games Schleußner got the opportunity to act as a substitute. After the end of the season Haake ended his career and coach Walter Fritzsch determined Schleussner to be number one in the Karl-Marx-Städter Tor. In the 26 games of the 1957 league season, Schleussner was only absent in two games. The SC Motor ended the season as relegated, had to compete in the first GDR league in 1958 and was relegated to the second GDR league there within a year . Under the two coaches Fritz Wittenbecher and Hans Höfer , Schleußner had to deal with his two rivals Manfred Fuchs and Günther Hurtig and in 1958 only made thirteen appearances in the 26 league games. In 1959, the SC Motor got a new goalkeeper with 21-year-old Guido Körner, who finally replaced Schleussner as number one in goal. Schleussner was only involved in three league matches in the immediate re-promotion to the first GDR league. In 1960, the Karl-Marx-Städter changed their regular goalkeeper with Dieter Löschner , while Schleussner only had three league games. With the 1961/62 season he went into his last season at SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt. Because of the return to the summer-spring season, 39 point games had to be played in the GDR league from February 1961 to June 1962, in which Schleussner was called up again in ten games when he returned to the top division. Although only 25 years old, ended his career in higher-class football after the end of the season, where he had been used seven times in the major leagues and 32 times in the GDR leagues within seven seasons.
