The Rolleiflex SL2000F is a small picture - SLR in the design of a cube , which otherwise only in the medium format is in use (such as from Hasselblad ). The advantages are the modular structure with a film magazine that can be changed during operation. Several different films (black and white / color or different film sensitivities ) can also be exchanged for individual images.

history

At the beginning of 1981, Rollei Fototechnic GmbH & Co. KG brought the Rolleiflex SL 2000 F reflex camera onto the market. At that time, Heinz Waaske was working as a development engineer, who had set himself the goal of being able to switch between exposures in the 35mm film area. 4800 units of the SL 2000 F were produced by mid-1984. From July 1984 it was replaced by the Rolleiflex 3003, which was manufactured in a number of only 2800 until 1994. A Rolleiflex SL 3001 was also available as an economy model from 1986 to 1991. Although it has no light shaft finder as an economy model , it was actually the most exclusive series version of this camera series with only 1,600 copies produced. In 1990, Rollei offered a traveler set of the 3003 , consisting of the camera with normal lens, Apo-Rolleinar f / 3.5–4.5 70–210 mm, quick charger, NC power pack and Tectra plastic case.

Various special variants were added to the standard models, for example demonstration models with a housing made of transparent plastic (100 pieces), leather covers or special paintwork. There was also the Rolleiflex 3000 ED model in the so-called half format (24 mm × 18 mm). The ED in the model name likely referred to Discovery Service . Here the film transport and light entry have been modified so that only half the width of the 35mm format are active. So you could put twice as many (72) portraits on one film.

construction

The Rolleiflex SL 2000 F and 3003 are characterized by unusual features for 35mm cameras . They are first of all in its main elements without tools to disassemble, one so that the components lens , camera body , film magazine and battery pack with the hand can be separated. Furthermore, the foldable light shaft can also be removed, as can the adjusting screen, which can be exchanged for different versions . As a further special feature, the SL 2000 F has two triggers as standard , the 3003 even three, but the 3001 only one. In addition, a trigger to be operated by the system handle is housed in the floor. The viewfinder is also available twice . There is a so-called telescopic viewfinder on the back of the camera and a foldable light shaft viewfinder with a swiveling magnifying glass on the top of the camera. The 3001, as an economy model, on the other hand, is only equipped with the telescopic viewfinder. The interchangeable magazine makes these camera models unique . After inserting a slider that makes the interchangeable magazine light-tight, the film and magazine can be removed from the camera and exchanged for another film in a second magazine. This means that you can change the film, as is otherwise only usual with roll film cameras .

The additional equipment includes an integrated motorized film transport, which can manage up to 3 frames per second, as well as a hot shoe for connecting a TTL flash metering system of the SCA 300 series and the Rollei selective metering, which measures the middle image area, determines the correct exposure values.

Lenses and accessories

Numerous lenses are available for the camera. Starting with the fisheye lens with an image angle of 180 ° via normal wide-angle lenses with an image angle of 74 ° to 100 °. Continuing with standard focal lengths and zoom lenses up to the super telephoto lens with 1000 mm focal length, which can display 20 times the image size. There are also magnifying lenses, macro lenses and even a shift / perspective control lens.

There are additional accessories to expand the area of application:

The three most obvious innovations from the SL 2000 F to the 3003 are the third trigger on the top of the camera, which is particularly useful in combination with the newly added hand strap, as well as the knob for the exposure times. A new nameplate and modified electronics also contribute.
