The village of Rollhofen is part of the municipality of Neunkirchen am Sand in the Middle Franconian district of Nürnberger Land .

location

The village is located 2.5 km northeast of Neunkirchen am Sand, at the southwestern foot of the Rothenberg in the south-facing valley of the Schnaittach . This divides the place into a western and an eastern half by its wide river valley, which is mostly covered by meadows. At the lower end of the village, the stream of the same name flowing from the neighboring Kersbach in the east flows into it. The city of Nuremberg is about 22 km away as the crow flies.

history

Rollhofen was first mentioned in a document on May 29, 1330. An estate in Rollhofen, which belonged to the daughter of a Nuremberg citizen, was supposed to go to the St. Klara monastery in Nuremberg after her death , which is proven to have happened. The place name is probably due to the personal name Rollo. So it meant "to the courtyards of the Rollo".

In 1832 the place had 51 houses with 200 inhabitants. In 1952 the school house was inaugurated. After renovation, it now serves as a kindergarten and community center. In the 1960s, a settlement area emerged on the right slope of the Schnaittachtal towards Kersbach. In 1972, as part of the municipal regional reform, the formerly independent municipality of Rollhofen was incorporated into Neunkirchen am Sand together with its districts of Eichig and Wolfshöhe .

Infrastructure

Rollhofen has a kindergarten and a volunteer fire brigade .
