Roman Alexandrowitsch Schischkin ( Russian Роман Александрович Шишкин ; English Roman Shishkin ; born January 27, 1987 in Voronezh , Russian SFSR , USSR ) is a Russian football player . He can be used as a full-back and in defensive midfield.

Career

Roman Schischkin began his career as a youth player with Fakel Voronezh . At the age of 14 he moved to Spartak Moscow , where he made his first team debut in 2004. However, after experienced players like Nemanja Vidić and Clemente Rodríguez were signed, his chances of playing dropped significantly, which is why he was toying with a move. Vladimir Fedotov , Spartak's coach at the time, was able to dissuade him from leaving. In 2006 he was finally able to establish himself as a regular player on the position of right full-back. Due to his convincing performance, Guus Hiddink , the coach of the Russian national team , became aware of him, so that on March 24, 2007 he played his only international match in the qualifying match for the 2008 European Championship against Estonia. He was also able to gain international experience in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup , where he has not yet achieved any success with Spartak Moscow. At the end of 2006, UEFA named it one of the eight most promising football players under the age of 20.
