Roman Jabłoński

Roman Jabłoński (born September 18, 1945 in Danzig ) is a Polish cellist and music teacher .

The son of the composer Henryk Hubertus Jabłoński attended Roman Suchecki's cello class at the Gdansk University of Music until 1963 . He continued his education as a scholarship holder of the Polish Ministry of Culture at the Moscow Conservatory with Sergei Shirinski and studied from 1971 to 1973 with Aldo Parisot at Yale University .

From 1969 to 1971 Jabłoński taught at the Music Academy in Łódź, from 1974 to 1976 at the Music Academy in Gdansk and since then at the State University of Music in Warsaw, where in 2006 he taught at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music (now Fryderyk Chopin University of Music ) was awarded the title of professor. He also taught at the Conservatory of San Sebastian, at the University of the Arts Berlin and at Yale University and gave master classes a. a. in Rheinsberg, Ankara, Cleveland, Jerusalem, Norfolk and Perth.

As early as the 1960s and 1970s, Jabłoński was the winner of several music competitions. His repertoire includes solo works, chamber music and concerts for cello from the 17th century to the present day. The cello concerto by Witold Lutosławski , which he repeatedly played under the direction of the composer, is of particular importance . He made his US debut in 1976 at Carnegie Hall with the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra under Jerzy Maksymiuk . He has also performed internationally with the Berlin Philharmonic , the Cleveland Orchestra , the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra , the London Philharmonic Orchestra , the London Symphony Orchestra , the New York Philharmonic Orchestra , the Orchestra of the RAI Rome, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia , the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and all of the BBC's orchestras .

As a chamber musician, he often works with Krystyna Borucińska . From 1974 to 1981 he was a member of the Quartet of Polish Radio and Television with Konstanty Andrzej Kulka , Stefan Kamasa and Jerzy Marchwiński . He made numerous recordings on radio and television, and his discography includes more than 20 albums.
