Roman Malinowski (born February 26, 1935 in Białystok ) is a Polish economist and politician of the peasant parties ( ZSL , PSL ).

Life

Malinowski's father was a railroad worker. In 1956 Roman Malinowski completed his studies in agricultural economics at the Main University for Planning and Statistics in Warsaw . In the same year he joined the ZSL. In 1972 he received his doctorate in economics.

He was voivode of the Łódź Voivodeship from 1975 to 1980 . Since 1976 as a representative of the constituency of Łódź (with re-election in 1980 in Konin and 1985 via the state list), he was a member of the Sejm for three legislative periods. 1981–1989 he was party chairman of the ZSL and 1980–1985 deputy prime minister in the Babiuch , Pińkowski and Jaruzelski cabinets , then 1985–1989 Sejmmarschall (President of Parliament). From 1987 he was the last chairman of the Society for Polish- Soviet Friendship until it was dissolved in 1991.

In 1989 he took part in the round table discussions and was one of the government leaders who most promoted the deal. According to Władysław Bartoszewski , Roman Malinowski, in the leadership of [...] the United Peasants 'Party, which is imperfectly authentic due to the [restricted] internal freedoms, found an upright way to support the solidarity movement and the citizens' committees and allow Poland to be self-determined, to the horror the red one .
