Roman Röösli

Roman Röösli (born September 22, 1993 in Neuenkirch , Canton of Lucerne ) is a Swiss rower . In 2018 he was second in the double scull world championship .

Athletic career

The 1.91 m tall Roman Röösli reached fourth place in the double sculls at the 2011 Junior World Championships together with Barnabé Delarze . In 2012, Röösli finished twelfth with the double foursome at the U23 World Championships . In 2013, the Swiss double scull won the U23 World Championships with Roman Röösli, Augustin Maillefer , Nico Stahlberg and Barnabé Delarze. At the 2013 World Championships in the adult class, Röösli competed in single and finished eleventh. In 2014 Röösli competed with David Aregger in a double scull at the European Championships and took seventh place. At the U23 World Championships, the Swiss double scull won with Damien Tollardo , Maillefer, Röösli and Delarze. At the World Championships in Amsterdam , the Swiss double scull achieved sixth place with Stahlberg, Aregger, Maillefer and Röösli. In 2015 Stahlberg, Maillefer, Delarze and Röösli took seventh place at the 2015 European Championships in Poznan. At the World Championships on the Lac d'Aiguebelette , the Swiss achieved fifth place and thus the direct Olympic qualification. In 2016 Stahlberg and Röösli competed at the European Championships in Brandenburg an der Havel in double sculls and finished fourth. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Stahlberg, Maillefer, Röösli and Delarze took seventh place in the double fours as winners of the B final.

At the 2017 European Championships in Račice u Štětí , Röösli and Delarze won the bronze medal in the double scull behind the boats from Italy and Poland. Four months later, the Swiss finished eighth at the World Championships in Sarasota . In 2018 Röösli competed in the Rowing World Cup once in a single and twice in a double scull and achieved podium placements. At the European Championships in Glasgow he won the bronze medal in the single behind the Norwegian Kjetil Borch and the Lithuanian Mindaugas Griškonis . A month and a half later, the 2018 World Championships took place in Plovdiv , Röösli and Delarze won the silver medal in a double scull behind the French. At the start of the 2019 season, Röösli and Delarze won silver behind the Poles at the European Championships in Lucerne . The two then won the World Cup regattas in Poznan and Rotterdam. The two finished fifth at the 2019 World Championships in Linz-Ottensheim.
