Romana ceilingbacher

Romana ceilingbacher (born January 14, 1967 in Linz ) is an Austrian trade union official and politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). She has been a member of the National Council since January 9, 2020 .

Life

After completing elementary and secondary school, Romana Deckbacher attended the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium Linz , where she graduated in 1985 . She then graduated from the Federal Education Academy in Linz by 1988 and passed the teaching examination for secondary schools for German, history and adult education. In 1998 she began a diploma course in pedagogy and special and curative education at the University of Vienna , which she completed in 2001/02 with a diploma thesis on the subject of value education at Catholic private secondary schools as Mag. Phil. completed. She also completed an apprenticeship as a qualified dyslexia trainer.

From 1988 to 2016 she was employed as a secondary school teacher in the Vienna school service, from then on she was released from duty. From 2011 to 2016 she was a member of the central committee of the Viennese state teachers, in 2016 she became deputy chairman of the public service union (GÖD) as well as head of social affairs in the GÖD and member of the federal board of the Austrian trade union federation (ÖGB). She is also a member of the Federal Women's Board and Federal Women's Committee in the GÖD and the ÖGB. She has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the Austrian Civil Service Insurance (ÖBV) since 2018 . In 2018/19 she was a member of the transition committee of the Insurance Company for Public Employees , in 2020 she became a member of the Board of Directors of the Insurance Company for Public Employees, Railways and Mining .

From 2014 to 2018, ceilingbacher was the district chairwoman of the Austrian Workers' Federation (ÖAAB) in the 20th district of Brigittenau in Vienna , and in 2018 she became deputy chairwoman. In Brigittenau she has been a district councilor, member of the district council , club chairwoman and district party chairwoman of the ÖVP Vienna since 2016 and chairwoman of the ÖVP women since 2019. Since 2016 she has been a member of the regional executive committee of the ÖVP Vienna and the regional executive committee of the ÖVP women Vienna.

In the 2019 National Council election she ran for the ÖVP in sixth place in the list in the Vienna electoral district . On January 10, 2020 she was in the XXVII. Legislative period as a member of the Austrian National Council , where she became a member of the Health Committee, the Equal Treatment Committee and the National Defense Committee. She replaced Gernot Blümel , who was Minister of Finance in the Federal Government Short II .
