Ron Weatherburn

Ronald "Ron" Weatherburn (born January 31, 1934 in Dagenham , Essex , † May 26, 1995 in Brampton , Canada ) was a British ragtime and jazz pianist .

Weatherburn played in the English Dixieland scene from the mid-1950s a. a. with Eric Silk (who made the first recordings for Esquire Records ), Cy Laurie and Gary Miller. In the 1960s he was a member of Kenny Ball's band . In 1962 he recorded ragtime solo numbers for the first time, which appeared in 1974 as Ragtime Piano and Beyond - Extemporizations & Innovations . In the 1980s he worked a. a. with Humphrey Lyttelton , Ken Sims' Dixie Kings and the Original East Side Stompers ( Algiers Strut 1985 ). In the field of jazz he was involved in 82 recording sessions between 1955 and 1986. He is not to be confused with the New Zealand jazz woodwind of the same name.
