Ronald Weidemann

Ronald Weidemann (born November 9, 1931 in Bilzingsleben ) is a former German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador in Zaire , Burundi and the People's Republic of the Congo .

Life

Weidemann, son of a worker, learned the trade of building carpenter. Until 1953 he worked as an employee in foreign trade and then studied at the Moscow Institute for International Relations until 1959 . He then worked at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). From May 1965 to 1968 he headed the GDR commercial agency in the Malian capital Bamako as a legation councilor . From 1968 to 1972 he was first deputy head and then head of the Africa department at the MfAA. From June 1973 to July 1979 he was the GDR's ambassador in Kinshasa , and from January 1974 to July 1979 he was also accredited in Burundi . Then again at the MfAA, he was from March 15, 1986 to 1990 he was ambassador in Brazzaville .

Weidemann was a member of the SED .
