Karl Ronnie Sundin (born October 3, 1970 in Ludvika ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who was under contract with Frölunda HC in the Swedish Elitserien between 1998 and 2009 .

Career

Ronnie Sundin began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown with Ludvika HC , for which he was active in Division 2 from 1986 to 1988 . The defender then played for the second division side Mora IK for four years before he was signed by Västra Frölunda HC in the summer of 1992 , for whom he was on the ice from 1992 to 1997 in the Elitserien , the highest Swedish division. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1996 in the ninth round as a total of 237 players by the New York Rangers , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1997/98 season . In the only NHL game of his career, Sundin remained pointless and punished. The Swede spent the rest of the season with the Rangers' farm team , the Hartford Wolf Pack , in the American Hockey League .

After only one year in North America, Sundin returned to Västra Frölunda in 1998, for whom he has played since then and was Swedish Champion in 2003 and 2005 respectively . Due to his performance in the championship season 2002/03 he was also elected to the All-Star-Team of the Elitserien.

International

For Sweden Sundin took part in the World Championships in 1996 , 1997 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 and 2006 , as well as in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin .
