biography
After finishing school, Wolfgang Roloff trained as a sound engineer . In 1954 he was a member of the 'Valerie Trio', to which Valerie Hueck and Wolfgang “Eddy” Börner belonged. The trio starred in the film Ten Each Finger . After Hueck left, Roloff and Börner continued to work as a duo . From 1959, both recorded several singles under the stage name 'Bob & Eddy'. In the period that followed, other singles appeared with Roloff, some under his real name, but also with Rolf Simson as 'The Colorados' and as 'The Blizzards' with Kai Warner , James Last's brother .
Instrumental recordings were also made under different names. The first solo recording followed in 1963. As 'Otto Bänkel ' he took on the titles Des Plumber's Daughter and That Comes from the Many… . In the same year, a cover version of the American standard Oh My Darling, Clementine , appeared as Oh My Darling Caroline under the stage name 'Ronny'. The title stayed in the charts for several weeks .
Further successes followed in the late 1960s before Roloff retired from the stage in the 1970s. He then focused on composing and producing. During this time, titles were created with Mel Jersey and the child star Heintje , for whom he and Hans Hee wrote some titles such as I will build you a castle , Snowdrops in February and Love the Sun laughing again .
From 9 October 1981 Roloff joined entitled Hohe Tannen as part of the ZDF - TV show Our most popular songs , which in the Dortmunder Westfalenhalle was recorded. In 1984 he recorded another long-playing record , Voice of the Sea . After that he only devoted himself to his recording studio , Studio Nord Bremen .
Roloff also wrote the title Sierra madre del sur , which he recorded in 1970. The title was only a moderate success at the time. In 1987 the Zillertal Schürzenjäger recorded the song again and landed a big hit with it. The song was then recorded by numerous other artists - such as the Kastelruther Spatzen , Heino , Tony Marshall and Marianne and Michael .
Wolfgang Roloff died at the age of 81 and was buried in the cemetery in the Walle district of Bremen .
