The Rontal or Rohntal is a side valley of the Riss valley in the Karwendel. It runs roughly from west to east between the ridge that extends from the Rappenklammspitze to the Ronberg in the north and the Torkopf in the south.

At the end of the Rontalboden rises the northern Karwendel range , which with the eastern Karwendelspitze reaches a height of more than 1000 m above the valley head. The uncultivated Rontalalm is located on the Rontalboden . There are no simple transitions to managed huts or accommodations. The valley is closed to public traffic. Well-known snow and ski tours lead over the gatarte and to the Hochalplkopf .
